I have been working as a midwife over 20 years. Being a midwife is being “with woman”. I consider this to be a great privilege to be invited into a woman’s life to care for her antenatally, in birthing and postnatally. I believe every woman has the right to the very best of care regardless of their nationality, background or religion.  I have worked in the hospital and community settings and also in the private practice for the past 5 years.  I am a former director of Midwives First. I can offer women and their families individualised care including pregnancy care from conception through to Birthing and postnatal care including breastfeeding and early parenting support, this may include prescribing medication and any tests required.

I feel that a continuity model of care offers women such a special one on one bond with their chosen midwife and that every women and midwife should be given the choice to work within this model. I believe that developing strong relationships with women is empowering to them also. I strongly believe that when women are better supported the outcomes for pregnancy, birth and early parenting are always going to be better for them. All women flourish when we are supported, both as the client and midwife.  I love being a part of a family and watching women become strong mums as they grow in their pregnancy and parenting journey. I feel passionate about supporting new families, and I have a special interest in perinatal mental health and wellbeing.

I have a wonderfully supportive family including my 3 awesome (most days anyway!) teenage children. We love doing outdoor activities together as a family and especially enjoy camping and bike riding. I also enjoy my weekends with going to church on Sundays.
